Mold can grow within 24–48 hours — every minute counts.•We respond 24/7 across Volusia, Flagler & Seminole Counties.
Step 1 — Call Us Immediately
Time is the single most important factor. Mold can begin growing within 24–48 hours.
- Call (844) 393-2902 — we answer 24/7, 365 days a year.
- Tell us the source (burst pipe, storm, appliance leak, overflow) and roughly how much water.
- We'll give you an ETA and walk you through these steps while we're en route.
- Keep this page open on your phone to follow along.
Step 2 — Make It Safe (Electricity First)
Water and electricity are a deadly combination. Address this before anything else.
- If water is touching outlets, cords, or appliances, shut off power to affected areas at the breaker box.
- Only touch the breaker if you can reach it while standing on dry ground — never wade into water to reach a panel.
- If you can't safely reach the breaker, leave the home and wait for us or your utility company.
- Do not use fans or appliances that have been sitting in water.
Step 3 — Stop the Source If Safe
Stopping the flow prevents further damage — but only if it's safe to do so.
- Burst pipe or supply line: shut off the main water valve (know where this is ahead of time).
- Overflowing appliance: turn off its supply valve and unplug if dry.
- Storm/surge: you cannot stop it — focus on safety and protecting belongings.
- Sewage backup: do NOT try to clean it — leave the area and call us; it's a biohazard.
Step 4 — Protect People, Pets & Valuables
Get the irreplaceable things out of the water's path.
- Move family and pets to a dry, safe area — keep kids away from standing water.
- Lift furniture, rugs, and electronics off wet floors — put foil or wood blocks under furniture legs.
- Move valuables, documents, and photos to a dry room or higher floor.
- Hang wet curtains, cushion covers, and small rugs up so they're not sitting in water.
Step 5 — Document Everything
Photos and video protect your insurance claim. Do this before you move anything you've already moved.
- Take wide photos of every affected room from multiple angles.
- Shoot video walking through each room — narrate what happened and when.
- Close-up photo the water source and the highest water line on walls.
- Photograph damaged furniture, flooring, and belongings.
- Save receipts for any emergency supplies or hotel stays.
Step 6 — Start Removing Standing Water
Only safe, basic removal while you wait — leave the heavy work to us.
- Use towels, mops, and buckets to soak up shallow water on hard floors.
- Wet/dry shop vacuum if you have one — only on a GFCI-protected outlet and never while standing in water.
- Open windows and run a fan ONLY if outdoor air is drier than indoor (not during humid/storm conditions).
- Blot — don't scrub — wet carpet; scrubbing drives water deeper into the pad.
What NOT to Do
Do not use a household vacuum cleaner to remove water — risk of electrocution.
Do not enter rooms with sagging ceilings — they can collapse.
Do not turn on ceiling fixtures or fans in rooms with water above the outlet line.
Do not attempt to clean sewage or gray water yourself — it's a health hazard.
Do not use bleach on carpet or drywall — it won't kill mold roots and damages materials.
Do not wait to call us — every hour of wetness shortens the mold-prevention window.
